YOUNG NL CLIMBERS GOING TO NATIONALS .

MONTREAL, Quebec:  For the first time since 2008 Newfoundland climbers will be going to the Canadian National Youth Bouldering Championships in Vancouver next month. Erinn Locke, age 16 and Lily Dubrowski, age 14, members of the Newfoundland Junior Climbing Team qualified for the Under 19 nationals at the Quebec Climbing Federation (FQME) Coupe Quebec provincial championships January 21-22 in Montreal. Both finished the qualifying round in 4th place with Dubrowski coming 4th in finals and Locke 6th.  Enough to earn them a spot at the nationals.     West Coast senior hockey could be a reality in March. Officials on the west coast have plans in place for four teams to play in what is being called ” an amateur league” Corner Brook, Deer Lake, Stephenville and Port aux Basques would be the centers playing. One of the people behind the move is former senior hockey executive member Art Barry. The teams would play a 12 game schedule in its initial season.     Three games were played in Bally Haly Super League Curling Tuesday night. Toby McDonald and his rink improved to 8-2 on the season with an 8-2 win over Gary Perry. Nei;l Jacobs is now 6-4 as he beat Julia Pitcher 9-6. Pitcher is still winless in ten games. And Bill Jenkins record is now 7-2 thanks to a 7-1 win over Ken Bavis who falls to 2-8.       You have heard of world dart players Michael van Gerwen defeating two-time defending champion Gary Anderson. Well a Newfoundlander has now joined their ranks as a pro player A Newfoundlander has earned his professional card in Europe and is now considered a Professional Dart Player. He is the first Newfoundlander to earn a pro card in darts.  John Norman of Shea Heights is a top 12 point earner and get his pro card.
