  The Avalon East Senior Hockey League held its final draft of the season Tuesday night.  Southern Shore picked Cory Blackmore; and Ben Marshall Bell Island took Matt Densmore; Northeast selected Andrew Smith; CeeBee Stars drafted John Charles Snow; CeeBees then took Mitch Bragg.    The Avalon East Scoring race leader is Matthew Thomey of the CeeBee Stars. He has played 19 games and has tallied 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points. Jeremy Nicholas of Southern Shore Breakers is second with 28 points with 18 goals tops in the league and 10 assists. …

  It was probably the most exciting game in St. Junior Hockey this season. The first place Southern Shore Breakers down by three goals at one point in the game the Breakers rallied and came up with a 7-6 overtime win over St John’s Caps.       BALLY HALY SUPER LEAGUE CURLING Coastal Chiropractic skipped by Matthew Smith beat GFL Environmental skipped by Gary Perry 7-1 Greg Smith and his Niorth Atlantic team edged Toby McDonald and his All North Surveys squad 6-5 Ken Bavis Technip team were 7-1 winners over Osmonds Furniture skipped by Julia Pitcher and Bill Jenkins and his Provincial Benefits defeated Neil Jacobs Stewart McKelvey squad 7-5.     Andrew Symonds and his rink of Mark Healy, Dave Noftall and Keith Jewer claimed the 2017 provincial Travelers championship Sunday in Corner Brook. The Symonds team defeated Bas Buckle and did it the hard way scoring two in the eighth end for the win. Symonds will now head to Kingston Ontario  for the Nationals November 20th to 25th.
