The Northeast Eagles will head into the Christmas Break in first place in the Avalon East Senior Hockey League. The Eagles skated to a 5-2 decision over the second place St. John’s Caps Monday night at the Goulds Arena. The St. John’s Junior Hockey League game at the Bay Arena scheduled for Friday night has been postponed because of a fire at the Arena.The Roebothan McKay and Marshall Avalon Capitals were to play the CBN Jr Stars.   Canada’s two senior soccer competitions – the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy – will return to St. John’s, Newfoundland Labrador in October 5 to 10, 2016.
