Bell Island Blues moved into third place in the Avalon East Senior Hockey League standings Sunday with a 5-2 win over Southern Shore Breakers. The Blues now lead the Breakers by one point in the standings with a game in hand. Tyler Adams was the offensive leader for the Blues with three goals. The St. John’s Ice Caps finish their road trip with a 3-1 decision over Utica Comets . The Ice Caps were up 2-1 after the first and shut down Utica the rest of the way while adding a goal themselves for the decision. Lucas Lessio Brandon McNally and Jeremy Gregoire scored the Ice Caps goals in this contest. Gregorie had the winner at 4:42 of the opening period. Gabriel Dumont netted a shorthanded goal while Charles Hudon scored a powerplay marker but not enough as the St. John’s IceCaps fell 3-2 to the Rochester Americans in a shootout Wednesday night. The IceCaps fell behind 1-0 after the first period but Dumont tied the game just 22 seconds into the second period with the IceCaps on the penalty kill.
