The St. John’s Maple Leafs Midget Triple AAA team won both weekend games they played. Saturday they went to overtime and edged the Western Kings 4-3. Kyle McGrath scored three goals including the game winner in the extra session and also added an assist. Dylan McKenzie added the single. Josh Langmead gets the win in goal for the Leafs. Ethan Retieffe had two goals for the Kings. Sunday the Leafs win 8-3. McGrath had three goals and three assists in that game while McKenzie added a pair.…
S U N D A Y Eddie Pasquale stopped 44 shots but the St. John’s IceCaps fell 2-1 to the Toronto Marlies Sunday. Pasquale faced a steady diet of rubber all game long, including 19 shots in the second and 17 in the third. Bud Holloway scored late for the IceCaps to narrow the deficit to one, but a last minute rally fell just short. The St. John’s Caps defeated Southern Shore Breakers 5-3 in Avalon East Senior Hockey League semi-final action Monday night. The Caps take a three games to lead in that best of seven series. Mark Rideout collected two goals and an assist in the Caps win. Mike Druken, Matthew Fewer and Colin Escott provided single markers. Jeremy Nicholas netted two Shore goals and Michael Chafe had the single.
