HYNES LEADS JR HOCKEY SCORING

    Liam Hynes of Southern Shore Breakers is the leading scorer in the St. John’s Junior Hockey League as the regular schedule starts to wind down.  Hynes has played in 28 games this season and has scored 27 goals and added 31 assists for 58 points. Teammate Peter Kavanagh is a distant second. Kavanagh has appeared in 24 games and has potted 19 goals and setup 25 others for 44 points. Andrew Paul of the Roebothan McKay and Marshall Avalon Capitals holds down third place with 43 points in 27 games comprised of 26 goals and 17 assists.    …

      S U N D A Y Southern Shore Breakers evened their best iof seven Avalon East semi final with Northeast Eagles at two games apiece with a 2-1 win Sunday night. Cory Blackmore’s goal in the second period proved to be the winner for the Breakers. Morgan Warren had the other marker. Chris Thorne had the goal for the Eagles. Ben Goss stopped 39 of 40 for the Southern Shore. Chris Thorne replied for the Eagles and Mark Yetman made 42 saves. Game 5 in the best-of-seven series goes next Friday, 8 p.m., at the Jack Byrne…

    Sunday   CBN Stars nipped the Trinity Placentia Flyer 6-4. Devin Whalen and Jarred Walters  led the winners with  two goals apiece. Mark Ryan and Josh Rogers  added singles.Connor Stevens netted a pair of goals for the Flyers with Coral McNamara and Tyler Whittle with singles . Mount Pearl Junior Blades got two goals from Andrew Ricketts and one from Colin O’Neil to lift the Blades to a 3-0 win over the Northeast Junior Eagles.     The blog 25 Stanley said in its podcast that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in a Newfoundland hockey player in the Quebec Major Junior hockey League. The blog says It seems that the Habs GM Marc Bergevin  has an eye on a player who’s having an excellent season, Tyler Boland of the Rimouski Oceanic.       Saturday Night   CBR Renegades downed the Trinity  Placentia Flyers 6-1 in St. John’s Junior Hockey League play Saturday night. Blake Fudge and Carter Marissen both scored twice while Lucas Lush and Nick David adding singles. Lynden Thorne replied for the Flyers .   St John’s Junior Caps edged Northeast Eagles 3-2.  Zac Cooper, Robbie Everson and Danny Rice scored for the Caps.
