BREAKERS WIN OPENING GAME OF SEMIS

      Southern Shore Breakers won the opening game of their best of seven St John’s Junior hockey League semi-final  with a 9-4 win over Trinity Placentia Flyers.   Peter Kavanagh and Blake Dalton tallied twice each for the winners. Matt Templeman, Mitchell O’ Driscoll, Donavon Warren, A J Doyle and Shayne Kavanagh added singles.   Tyler Whittle, Matt Hanson, Conal McNamara and Dakota Warren replied for the Flyers. CENTRAL WEST WINNERS NAMED

    The Central West Senior Hockey League handed out its awards for the past season on Saturday night.   Collin Circelli of the first place Cataracts was named the league’s most valuable player. In 18 games he played with the Cataracts the native of Oshawa Ontario scored eight goals and added 15 assists for 23 points.   Cataracts goaltender Bryan Gillis a native of Halifax was named the league’s top goaltender for the past season. Gillis appeared in 14 games for the Cataracts this season. He has ten wins two losses and one overtime loss in the campaign. He…

              The Clarenville Caribous evened the best of seven Central West senior hockey final at a game apiece with a 4-3 win over the Cataracts Sunday. DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN FOR ST JOHNS CAPS

      The St. John’s Junior Caps get a goal from Tyler Tobin at 10:56 of the second overtime period and edge CBN Stars 4-3 in St Johns Junior Hockey quarter final play Friday night.   Matthew Smith scored twice in regulation time and assisted on the game winning goal. Chris Mallard had the other goal.     CBN got goals two goals from Jordan Coombs  and Michael Mason added a single. St. John’s leads that series 2-0.   S A T U R D A Y  The Conception Bay CeeBee Stars made it back to back wins in the Avalon East senior hockey final series Saturday night. Brett Shute scored twice and assisted on another as the CeeBee Stars down the Northeast Eagles 4-2. They now have a two games to one lead and regain home ice advantage.
