CEEBEE STARS EAST LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

      The Conception Bay CeeBee Stars are the Avalon East Senior Hockey League champions.   Kenny King scored two goals and the CeeBee Stars downed the Northeast Eagles 5-3. They claim the best of seven final four games to two.   Stephen Greeley, Cody Batten and Riley Ricks added singles for the CeeBee Stars.   Mark Chaplin , Dan Cadigan and Chris Thorne had the goals for the Eagles.   The CeeBee Stars were up 2-1 after the first period and leading 3-1 going to the final 20 minutes.   The CeeBee Stars now await the winner of…

  Toby McDonald has advanced to the final of the Bally Haly Super Curling League A section. McDonald beat Bill Jenkins 6-4 . In another A section game Greg Smith edged Matthew Smith 4-3. So Jenkins and Smith meet in the semi final of A section next Tuesday.   In the B section Gary Perry advanced to the final of B section beating Neil Jacobs 7-5. Ken Bavis defeated Julia Pitcher 7-3. So Jacobs and  Bavis meet in the semi final game next Tuesday in B section.…

  A well known soccer volunteer in the province is stepping aside.   Gord Dunphy has decided after eight years with Soccer Newfoundland he won’t be seeking a fifth team as senior men’s vice president and in charge of Challenge Cup.   Dunphy says he has had spinal fusion surgery and he will have a second spinal surgery this year.   Dunphy has made significant contributions to soccer and will be missed.…

  Brad Gushue and his rink have to get back into action for the Princess Auto Elite 10 which starts tomorrow at the Civic Center in Port Hawkesbury Nova Scotia. The Gushue rink are the defending champions  The competition will also feature  Jeff Stoughton who by the way will have former Gushue teammate Jamie Korab as his second, Calgary’s Kevin Koe, Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste.
