EAGLES TIE EAST SERIES

      The Northeast Eagles have tied the best of seven Avalon East Hockey League final series at two games apiece with the Conception Bay CeeBee Stars.   Chris Sparkes goal at 8:26 of the third period proved to be the winner as the Eagles edged the Conception Bay Ceebee Stars 4-3. Sean Wadden, Chris Mooney and Dan Cadigan had the other goals for the Eagles. Andrew Fenwick, Matthew Thomey and Sam Roberts replied for the CeeBee Stars.   The Clarenville Caribous are one win away from the Central West Senior Hockey League championship. Kevin Reid’s second goal of the game at 13:39 of the first overtime session gave the Caribous a 4-3 come from behind win. Kenny Mahoney had the other two goals for the Caribous.     The Conception Bay CeeBee Stars are one win away from the Avalon East senior hockey title and a trip to this year’s Herder final. The CeeBee Stars defeat the Northeast Eagles 3-1 to take a three games to two lead in the best of seven series. Sam Roberts, Matthew Thomey and Andrew Fenwick scored for the CeeBee Stars. METRO BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS START

  The Metro Basketball League playoffs begin tonight at the Waterford Valley High with two games on.   At seven o’clock Fougere Menchenton go against ACW Law.   The eight o’clock game has Team Kielly against Sundance.   Swilers and M5 have byes in the first round of the playoffs.   Meanwhile John Madden of Team Kielly was the top scorer in the league during the regular season. He played in 16 games and averaged 17.3 points per game. Paul Morgan of ACW Law finished second. In his 18 games he averaged 13.5 points per game.…
