The Growlers had a win and a loss on their first road trip of the season. They won 4-1 over Manchester Saturday. Derrian Plouffe, Marcus Power, Scott Pooley and Giorgio Estephan with the Growler goals. Sunday Maine came back with three third period goals and doubled the Growlers 4-2. Marcus Power and Ryan Moore had the goals for the Growlers. The Growlers are now 3-3 on the season. They play again Wednesday against Reading Royals.…
Memorial Sea Hawks women’s soccer team had a tie and a loss this weekend. Sunday Memorial played to a scoreless tie with Moncton. Sydney Walsh had the shutout. On Saturday Memorial fell 2-1 to U-N-B. Terri Murphy had the Memorial goal. Memorial record is 3-3-3.Their season concludes next weekend at home. The men’s team lost twice this weekend. Sunday they were shutout by Moncton 3-nothing and drop to 1-6-3 on the year. They lost 6-nothing to U-N-B on Saturday. …
Brad Gushue and his rink finished lost 9-8 to Dmitry Mironov in the final of the China open. The game went into an extra end after Gushue scored two in the eighth to force the extra. Gushue won his semi final match to advance beating Fredik Nyman 5-2.…
The St. John’s Edge have signed another player as they get ready for their season. New Orleans, Louisiana native Bryce Washington will join the team for the 2018-19 season. Washington, 6’8”, 245 pounds, comes to the Edge from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an NCAA Division 1 program. In 2017-18 Washington appeared in 34 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. In those 34 games he averaged 10.38 points, 10.47 rebounds, 2.12 assists, and 29.8 minutes. Washington shot .519 (137-for-264) from the floor and .642 (79-for-123) from the free throw line.…
The St. John’s Edge Basketball team has announced two more signings. The St. John’s Edge announced they have signed Canton, Ohio native Todd Brown for the 2018-19 season. Brown, 6’5”, 205 pounds, is a veteran player and has played professional basketball in Europe. A product of Wright State, NCAA Division 1. Brown started his professional career in Europe with WBC Raiffeisen Wels of the Austrian A Bundesliga. In 2017-18 Brown suited up for Penarol in the Argentinian Liga A.
