  The St. John’s Edge  have signed another player as they get ready for their season. New Orleans, Louisiana native Bryce Washington will join the team for the 2018-19 season. Washington, 6’8”, 245 pounds, comes to the Edge from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, an NCAA Division 1 program. In 2017-18 Washington appeared in 34 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. In those 34 games he averaged 10.38 points, 10.47 rebounds, 2.12 assists, and 29.8 minutes. Washington shot .519 (137-for-264) from the floor and .642 (79-for-123) from the free throw line.…

  The St. John’s Edge Basketball team has announced two more signings. The St. John’s Edge announced they have signed Canton, Ohio native Todd Brown for the 2018-19 season. Brown, 6’5”, 205 pounds, is a veteran player and has played  professional basketball in Europe. A product of Wright State, NCAA Division 1. Brown started his professional career in Europe with WBC Raiffeisen Wels of the Austrian A Bundesliga. In 2017-18 Brown suited up for Penarol in the Argentinian Liga A. In 16 games, he averaged 14.56 points, 4.31 rebounds, 3.88 assists, and 29 minutes. Brown shot .430 (83-for-193) from the…

The Newfoundland Growlers came out of the gate firing on all cylinders scoring on two of their first three shots in the game, and proceeded to fill the net all night long as they went on for a commanding 7-3 win.                                                                             ZACK PUTT With some 500 participants Zack Putt came first in the annual grueling Cape to Cabot 20 K run on Sunday.   The race goes from Cape Spear to Cabot Tower. Graham King pitched a two hit shutout and Shamrocks won their third straight St. John’s Senior Baseball Title with a 4-nothing win over Roebothan McKay and Marshall Gonzaga Vikings.   The recent announcement of the establishment of the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (NSHL) has been met with mostly favourable response from senior hockey fans across the Province.  The commitment towards community-based hockey, collaboration amongst franchises and a revamped Herder Memorial Championships are the outcomes of a five-step strategic plan initiated by Hockey NL Senior Council.
