GANDER MINOR BASEBALL LOOKING FOR FIELD IMPROVEMENTS

  Gander Minor Baseball is looking to upgrade its baseball field . They are requesting financial support to conduct repairs/upgrades to the field. They presented a five year plan to Gander Council  which includes repairing the infield and outfield, the installation of lights and a scoreboard and several other repairs. You may recall Gander won the provincial senior B baseball title this year and lost to the St. John;s Capitals in the provincial final.   …

EDGE SIGN TWO MORE PLAYERS FOR NEW SEASON

The reigning NBLC Most Improved Player, Junior Cadougan, a Toronto, ON native, has re-signed with the St. John’s Edge for the 2019-2020 season.  Cadougan, a 7 year pro has played in Georgia, Italy and Greece before returning to the NBL Canada prior to the 2016 season.   Cadougan played 45 games last season with the Edge, helping them to their first ever trip to the NBLC Finals.  Cadougan averaged 12.2 PPG, 4.2 APG and 3.8 RPG while shooting 51.1% from the field and 28.3% from 3-point range.  BC PLAYERS CELEBRATE VICTORY ( JOE CHASE PHOTO) The Challenge Trophy Toyota national championships wrapped up Monday in the metro area. British Columbia defeated Ontario 2-0 to take the men’s title. Nova Scotia captured bronze in a 2-0 win over Alberta 5/6 game: Quebec 4-0 over NB 7/8 game: NL’s Holy Cross Kirby Group closed out the tournament in Mount Pearl with a 2-0 win over Saskatchewan to end the tournament with two wins, two losses, and a tie.
