  Canada’s National Para Hockey Team is headed to Paradise, N.L., to take on the Czech Republic, Russia and the United States at the 2019 Canadian Tire Para Hockey Cup, Dec. 1-7.   Tickets are now on sale for the event, which was re branded from the World Sledge Hockey Challenge in 2018. Fans will be able to purchase a full-tournament package for $69, which includes all 10 games, or single-game tickets. GROWLERS WIN PRE SEASON OPENER

The Newfoundland Growlers opened their preseason with a 5-2 victory over the Brampton Beast scoring 3 goals in the opening 20 minutes of action. Goals came from Todd Skirving, newcomer Riley Woods and St. John’s Native Marcus Power. Brady Ferguson put the Growlers ahead by 4 heading into the final period of action. Scott Pooley on the empty Brampton net to seal a 5-2 Growlers victory over the Beast in the first of two preseason games against the Beast. Holy Cross evened the best of seven Intermediate Baseball final series at one game apiece with Shamrocks. Phillip Edwards pitched a four hitter as Holy Cross downed Shamrocks 4-1. The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) has announced that  Mark Marshall is its new Director of Player Development.   Marshall has more than 20 years of coaching and technical leadership experience ranging from grassroots soccer to the National Training Center. He was most recently Technical Director with the Richmond Hill Soccer Club in Ontario and is a Multisport Master Coach Developer and Evaluator with the Coaching Association of Canada’s National Coaching Certification Program. He is a previous Manager of Coach Development for Ontario Soccer and is currently a Coach Evaluator with Canada Soccer.…
