Aces have advanced to the finals of the Corner Brook senior baseball setup. The Aces scored six runs in the sixth inning and go on to a 7-1 win over Marlins and take the best of five series in straight games.   They now await the winner of the Monarchs Hawks series which the Monarchs lead two games to one.   Hawks remained alive in their Corner Brook senior baseball semi-final baseball series. The Hawks came from behind to get a 5-4 win in 11 innings.  Monarchs still lead the best of five series two games to one. Colin Wood in relief of starter Mike Colbourne gets the win.  Mike Tavenor is the losing pitcher.     NTV Hitmen beat the Bigs 9-1 in a St Johns senior men’s fast pitch semi-final game Thursday night .  That best of five series is now tied at a game apiece. Brad Ezekiel went three for three for the winners with a three run homer. Teammate Danny Mullins clocked a two run shot and Ryan Boland a solo blast.       The Sports Page has learned that the City of St. John’s has been awarded the 2017 Canadian men’s Curling Championship—The Brier. Sources tell the SportsPage that an announcement will be made in St. John’s within the next two weeks. Local officials will not comment on the story only saying that the announcement will be made by Canadian Curling officials as to what bid has been successful.
