SHAMROCKS VIKINGS NEED ONE

      Shamrocks and Roebothan McKay and Marshall Gonzaga Vikings are both one win away from meeting in the St. John’s Senior Baseball finals. The Shamrocks defeated Holy Cross 11-2 Sunday in the completion of an earlier game to go up two games to home against Cross. Holy Cross rebounded in the scheduled game with a 6-5 win. So Shamrocks lead the best of five affair two games to one with game four Tuesday at six.   The Vikings moved closer to a finals berth beating Feildians 15-8. BEN CLEARY LEADS WIN

    Roebothan McKay and Marshall Avalon Junior Capitals started their new St. John’s Junior Hockey League season with a bang. The Capitals downed the C-B-N Stars 12-1 at the Goulds Arena. Ben Cleary scored two goals and added four assists to lead the Capitals. Singles markers were added by Ben Murphy, John Snow, Ben Marshall, Paddy Nicolle, Matthew Downer, Harry Noftall, Adan Caines, Andrew Paul, Cameron Dunn, and Coady Barron.   Kelly’s Molson Bulldogs have taken a commanding three games to one lead in the best of seven St. John’s Senior Men’s Fast Pitch softball final series. The story again here was the performance of Sean Cleary. He pitched the seven inning win allowing three runs on four hits and striking out 15 as the Bulldogs downed NTV Hitmen 5-3. Cleary also belted a two run homer in the first inning. Robbie Greene also pitched well as he gave up six hits and fanned 12 in taking the loss.
