DANNY KINGS FUNERAL SATURDAY

The Newfoundland Sports community is mourning the loss today of a well known Newfoundland athlete, a Rugby player and a Powerlifter.   Details of funeral arrangements for St. John’s Athlete Danny King  who passed away suddenly this week, have been made public. His remains are resting at Carnells Funeral Home on Freshwater Road. Visitation will be held Friday from noon until 8 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at St. James United Church on Elizabeth Avenue, Saturday at ten o clock. A private family interment will follow.…

          Atlantic Woodworking claimed the 24th annual Margaret Breen Memorial Basketball tournament championship Saturday at the Waterford Valley High School Gym. They defeated M5 51-49 in a closely contested game. Mark Squires hooped 11 points for the winners and Darryl Budgell added 10. Jeremy McCarthy of the losers was the games top scorer with 23 points. Jason Ryan of Atlantic Woodworking was named the tournament MVP. M5 earned a finals berth beating Swilers 53-51 in overtime. McCarthy led the winners with 13 points.
