The Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts are very disappointed in the decision by the CWSHL to hand a 3 game suspension to Cataract defenceman Rodi Short. In addition to the suspension itself we are particularly concerned about the way the announcement of the suspension was handled. The league executive voted on the suspension Tuesday evening. It was then reported in the social media by a member of the Corner Brook Royals organization early Wednesday morning.     It will be the Roebothan, McKay and Marshall Avalon Capitals against the C-B-N Stars for the St. John’s Junior Hockey League championship. The Capitals advanced to the best of seven final series with a 6-3 win over Mount Pearl Blades. They take the best of seven semi-final series four games to one.     Paradise native Sarah Davis has been named to Canada’s National women’s hockey team that will compete at the World championships March 28th to April 4th in Kamloops BC. Davis was part of Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team to a gold medal at the 2010 IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championship in Chicago. She is a member of the Calgary Inferno women’s hockey team. Davis has played 21 games this season and has scored four goals and added nine assists for 13 points. He has served just eight penalty minutes this season. She is tenth in team scoring for this season.…

  Medical staff tend to Corner Brook player Ryan Salvis at the Joe Byrne Memorial Stafdium   Rodi Short of the Cataracts has been handed a three game suspension by the Central West Senior Hockey League. The suspension comes after a hit in last weekend second game of the finals. Short was assessed a five minute boarding penalty and a game misdconduct for his hit on Ryan Salvis of the Corner Brook Royals. Reports indicate that Salvis suffered two broken ribs as a result of the hit. The Cataracts and Royals resume their best of seven west final this weekend.…
