A well know Newfoundland athlete and member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Hockey Hall of Fame has passed away. Dick Power a native of Bell Island passed away on Monday at the age of 75. Power’s first provincial competition was with the Bell Island junior club in 1957, 1958 and 1959. His play was such that he was offered a playing position with the St. Catharines TeePees of the Ontario Junior Hockey League but he declined. St. John’s native Teddy Purcell is changing teams. Purcell, who played with Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers last season has signed a one year deal with the Los Angeles Kings. Last season Purcell had 14 goals and 29 assists between the two teams. He signed a one year deal worth 1.6 million.…
