FITZPATRICK, NOEL PICKED IN NHL DRAFT

    Two Newfoundlanders who have played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have been picked in this year’s National Hockey League Draft.   First of all Evan Fitzpatrick, a goaltender with Sherbrook was claimed 59th overall by the St. Louis Blues. The Blues were in the market for a netminder after trading goalie Brian Elliott to the Calgary Flames. Fitzpatrick was a member of the Sherbrooke Phoenix and played in 52 games and had a 3.42 goals against average.   And centerman Nathan Noel went in the fourth round and 113th overall to the Chicago Black Hawks. A  wild high scoring game in Corner Brook Senior Baseball League play Thursday night.   Veitch’s Hawks outscored Westside Monarchs 16-13 in a game that saw both teams combine for 28 hits as well.   Both teams had innings where they scored nine runs.
