      A Newfoundland runner is turning heads not only in Canada but also in the United States. 21 year Jillian Forsey who hails from Kippens had a brilliant race this weekend at the NCAA Mid Atlantic Regional Cross Country final at Penn State. Forsey covered the six kilometer hilly course in 20 minutes and nine seconds which saw her finish second. This performance qualifies the University of West Virginia  standout for a place in the NCAA final next weekend.…

      S U N D A Y    The IceCaps get a split with the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins Sunday with a 3-2 overtime win. Chris Terry scored the winner at 4:34 of overtime and that was his second goal of the game. Sven Andrighetto had the other Ice Caps goal.       The Avalon East senior hockey league has suspended St John’s Caps forward Mike Druken. Druken was handed a four game suspension for a hit to the head of a Northeast  Eagles player. He received two games automatically under HNL suspension rules and the league has added two games as well for a four game suspension.
