JOHN’S, Newfoundland – Speaking at the Mount Pearl Chamber of Commerce today Newfoundland Growlers owner Dean MacDonald has confirmed that he will be building a new arena in Newfoundland and it will be outside of St John’s. “When you have nowhere to play you don’t get much choice,” said MacDonald. “Economically, its better to build from scratch for us. Renovation on Mile One is an ongoing thing. Parking is an issue. Much of our fan base drive in from outside the city,” added MacDonald. CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, Newfoundland – Growlers came out strong in the first period with a quick goal by Nathan Noel. They held the advantage for the next 2 periods to defeat the Worchester Railers 5 – 3 in the last game of a three game series on Growlers home ice at the CBS Arena. The final goal was an empty netter by Nathan Noel. Growlers beat the Railers in shots on goal 33 -26. CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, Newfoundland – Newfoundland Growlers lose to Worchester Railers 5-2 on Saturday in the second game of a three game run at the CBS Arena. The Newfoundland Growlers came out strong but the Railers railed in period 2 and 3.  Matteo Pietroniro got the Growlers on the board first to make it 1-0 eight minutes into the first period. Blake Christensen would score for the Railers  just before the midway mark of the second period. Marcus Power scoring the winning shot to give the Growlers a 3-2 victory. Growlers won the shootout 2 – 1. Power earned the 1st Star of the game.
