Growlers BASKETBALL! New CEBL team for Newfoundland.

ST JOHN’S, Newfoundland – Deacon Sports and Entertainment has announced the will be bring a new CEBL -Canadian Elite Basketball League team to St John’s for the 2022 season and they are staying on-brand calling the team the Growlers. The new team will be playing at the Memorial University Field House under a three year $75,000.00 per year agreement with MUN. Mike Morreale Commissioner and CEO of the league joined Dean MacDonald of Deacon Sports and officials from MUN for the announcement at the Field House this morning. JOHN’S, Newfoundland – A little shake up in Draw 7 of Remax Super League Curling last night with Sarah Hill’s team taking down the undefeated Team Crosbie 6-5 and Team O’Leary getting its first win defeating Team Strong 6-1. Important wins also for Greg Smith over Ryan McNiel Lamswood,  Trent Skanes over Ken Peddigrew and Alex Smith over Nathan Young as the standings tighten up again. JOHN’S, Newfoundland – The Newfoundland Growlers and St John’s City Hall appear to have kissed and made up with news today that the Growlers will be returning to the Mary Brown Centre after being evicted from the building by city council three weeks ago over a charge of workplace harassment. Deacon Sports and Entertainment, owners if the growlers and St John’s Sports and Entertainment, operator of the Mary Brown Centre and own by City of St John’s reached an agreement today that could see the Growlers back in time to play their next home game on December 1st game.…

JOHN’S, Newfoundland – The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) will honour its 2019 and 2020 Hall of Fame and annual award winners November 19 and 20 at the Comfort Inn in St. John’s. The 2019 inductions will take place on Friday, November 19, while the class of 2020 will be inducted on Saturday, November 20. The ceremonies had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
