Sink or Swim in Mount Pearl

MOUNT PEARL, NL – The Mount Pearl Marlins hosted the Sink or Swim swim meet over this past weekend Nov 19-21 at the Mount Pearl Summit Centre.  Over 200 athletes took part in the 36 short and medium-distance events with swimmers breaking both provincial and club records despite almost two years without an official meet.   Teams came from Corner Brook, Stephenville, Port Aux Basque, Gander, Carbonear, CBS and St. John’s. Over 50 officials volunteered through out the weekend. Many swimmers qualified for higher level competitions at Provincial Championships to Eastern Canadian Nationals. ST JOHN’S, Newfoundland – Deacon Sports and Entertainment has announced the will be bring a new CEBL -Canadian Elite Basketball League team to St John’s for the 2022 season and they are staying on-brand calling the team the Growlers. The new team will be playing at the Memorial University Field House under a three year $75,000.00 per year agreement with MUN.
