LOCKE WINS AT ATLANTIC CLIMBING COMPETITION

Newfoundland competition climber, Erinn Locke (18), won the Youth (U19 division) at the first event in the Tour de Bloc national climbing series in Halifax last weekend at Seven Bays gym. She won with a perfect score. This event was also the regional qualifier for Climbing Esclade Canada’s 2019 National Championships so Locke qualified for both the National Youth Boulder Championships in Montreal in February as well as the National Open Boulder Championships in Calgary in March.  This will be the third time she gone to the national championships and one of only three Newfoundlanders ever to do so.…

BRINSON NAMED HNL TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador has named  Chad Brinson as the provincial associations Technical Director. Brinson worked with the sport governing body as a student while he completed his Bachelor of Recreation through Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2017.  Brinson replaces former Technical Director, Paul Dagg, who held the position for six years prior to joining the coaching staff with the Newfoundland Growlers hockey team in September. Brinson will begin his job on December 10, 2018.  …

  Memorial’s women’s and men’s basketball teams lost both games against Cape Breton this weekend. Th women’s team lost 91-90 to Cape Breton Sunday. Sydney Stewart had 36 points for MUN. Saturday MUN fell 86-83. Stewart had 24 points. The men’s team lost both games by the same scores 81-77 to Cape Breton. Saturday Emmanuel Ring had 24 points and Sunday he scored 37 points.…

  S U N D A Y The Gander Flyers made it a weekend sweep over the Cataracts. They doubled the Cats 4-2 Sunday as four players shared in the scoring.
