Memorial Sea Hawks basketball player Haillee Nickerson has been named the AUS female athlete of the week. On Sunday she set a Sea Hawks record scoring 42 points in the game against Cape Breton. That went along with her 23 point performance on Saturday. She was also named the Memorial University athlete of the week. The MUN Male Athlete of the week is Nathan Barker also of the basketball team. He scored 19 points in each game the Seahawks had against Cape Breton. …

According to the AUS stats archives, Haille Nickerson’s 42 points is a new Sea Hawks single game record. Previously that was held by Jeanine Browne who had 38 points twice in Jan 2003 and Jan 2004. Ahmad Thomas, a 6’3 215lb Guard/Forward from Danville, Virginia has signed a 2019-2020 NBLC player contract with the St. John’s Edge. Thomas, a second year pro will join the Edge after playing last season in Germany. Thomas, a 2018 graduate of UNC Ashville has his name all over the record books at Ashville and in the Big South Conference. Thomas, was named Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year twice, in 2017 and 2018.
