SEA HAWK PLAYERS LEAD AUS BASKETBALL SCORING RACES

  The AUS Basketball season is now taking a break for November and December because of exams and return to play in January. Memorial Sea Hawks players are the leading scorers in the women’s and men’s divisions.     Haillie Nickerson of MUN is the top scorer in the women’s division. She has played eight games and is averaging 22.9 points per game. Alana Short also of MUN is 11th averaging 13.1 points per game. At the break Memorial is in first place in the women’s division with 16 points. Cole Long of the Sea Hawks is the men;s division leading scorer.…

RED WINGS WIN BARN BURNER AS WCSHL STARTS

It was an old time hockey in Corner Brook Friday night as the Royals hosted Deer Lake Red Wings in the season opener. Plenty of body contact and a nail-biter to the end.  Jalen Gillard’s third goal of the game with eight seconds left in regulation time lifted the Red Wings to a 7-6 win over the hometown Royals. Luke Parsons, Noah Legge, Lucas Mackey and Josh Skinner scored the other Red Wing goals. Iain Pilgrim and Daniel Noseworthy had two goals each for the Royals with Tyler Hunt adding a single. EDGE SIGN ST. JOHN’S NATIVE FOR SEASON

   Noel Moffatt, a 6’5 190lb St. John’s native  has signed a 2019-2020 NBLC Player Contract with the St. John’s Edge.  Moffatt will be a second year pro after a stop with the Windsor Express.   Moffatt, the former two sport star at Gonzaga High School in St. John’s, played collegiately at Memorial University.  Over his five seasons with the Seahawks, Moffatt played in 86 games and had career averages of 5.4ppg and 7.7rpg. During his final season at MUN, Moffatt averaged 10.3ppg and 5.9rpg while leasing the U-Sports in rebounding.  In his lone season with the Windsor Express, Moffatt…
