  S A T U R D A Y Southern Shore Breakers tallied three third period goals and came-from-behind to defeat the Clarenville Caribous 4-2 in East Coast Senior hockey League play Saturday night in Clarenville. Andrew Gale was the offensive leader for the Breakers as he scored twice in this contest. Tommy Leonard and Blake Dalton had the other goals for the Shore.   ICE #1:   Defending Super League Champion Crosbie Group (skipped by Andrew Symonds) suffered an open hit for a 3-count in the third end against Service Master Restore (skipped by Nathan Young).   However that was the end of the scoring by this fine young Junior team.   Young had opened the scoring with an open hit against two counters in the first end.   There was nothing “open” about his shots in the remaining five ends as the Super League veterans, and the skip of Team NL in the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, counted four singles and a pair.   There were lots of guards in play and…

GROWLERS SIGN A NEW PLAYER

  The Newfoundland Growlers, have signed Forward Dylan Vander Esch to a standard ECHL player contract.   The 25 year old Vander Esch,appeared in seven  games this season with the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League where he has tallied four goals and five assists for nine points and eight penalty minutes.  During the 2018-19 season, Vander Esch played in 49 games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL where he totaled 25 points including 11 goals and four assists.…

      Karrington Ward, a 6’7 205lb wing from Lockport, Illinois has signed a 2019-2020 NBLC Player Contract with the St. John’s Edge.  Ward a 2015 graduate at Eastern Michigan University will begin his 5th season as a pro after stops in Luxemburg and the NBA G-League.
