  The Mary Browns St. John’s Junior Hockey League has named the Sportcraft players of the month for January. Devon Parsons of the St. John’s Caps is the goaltender of the month. He played three games and was in nets for three of his teams wins one of which was a shutout. Greg Kehoe of St. John’s Caps was named the defenseman of the month. He had two goals and six assists for the month.  The forward of the month is Lyndon Thorne of Trinity Placentia Flyers. He registered six goals and six assists in five games. …

      The Moncton Magic and St. John’s Edge proved on Tuesday night they don’t like each other at least on the court. MUN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT

  S U N D A Y    Memorial defeated SMU 84-81 to sweep their weekend series and remain tied for first place in AUS women’s basketball. Hallie Nickerson led MUN Sunday with 26 points and Alana Short contributed 20. Memorial are 12-4 on the season.
