  The 2020  Royal St. John’s Regatta  has been officially cancelled. Its the first time in 80 years the premier rowing regatta in Newfoundland and Labrador has been cancelled.  HERE ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS REGARDING THE REGATTA  The races of 1818 were held on September 22 in order to coincide with the 57th anniversary of King George III‘s official coronation on September 22, 1761. Another Newfoundland Growler player gets postseason honours. Brad Ferguson has been named the the ECHL’s second all-star team for the 2019-20 season. GROWLERS PLAYERS NAMED TO ECHL ROOKIE TEAM

Two Newfoundland Growlers team have been named to the 2019-20 East Coast Hockey League rookie all-star team.   Joseph Duszak of the Newfoundland Growlers finished second among rookie defensemen with 35 points (9g-24a) in 36 games, despite spending the final six weeks of the season with Toronto of the American Hockey League. Duszak’s nine goals were fourth among rookie blueliners.   Justin Brazeau of the Newfoundland Growlers led all ECHL rookies, and was tied for fifth overall in the league, with 27 goals in 57 games.   The 2021 Canadian Brier isn’t until next March. However –there is one Newfoundland Curling who has his eyes on winning the Newfoundland Tankard and getting to the Brier. This comes about as  Brad Gushue and his rink will be Team Canada atr next year’s Brier because they won the 2020 event.
