On the left is Darren Colbourne who was Frank Humber’s (Frank on right) catcher for 40 plus years.   Thursday night Frank Humber pitched his last game for the Hawks in Corner Brook senior baseball. It was a tremendous career for a gentleman who saw his career take him from Corner Brook to the US. Humber went to Wake Forest College in the US and later played for the Los Angeles Dodger’s AA ball team. He also pitched for Canada in the Olympics. MACDONALD LANDS ANOTHER ECHL HOCKEY FRANCHISE

  Deacon Sports and Entertainment of Canada  headed by Newfoundlander Dean MacDonald will own the new ECHL franchise in Coralville IOWA. The sides have a multi-year agreement to use the arena. This  group already owns the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers and a team in Trois Riviere Quebec. It is unclear what NHL club the ECHL Coralville franchise will be affiliated with. According to The  Cedar Rapids Gazette, the Minnesota Wild are the obvious choice because of their close proximity to Coralville IOWA.…

  Feildians and C-B-S Strikers FC came away with wins in Johnson’s Insurance Challenge Cup soccer play Wednesday night. Feildians defeated Holy Cross 2-nothing. Emmanuel Dolo and Fomba Fombullah scored the Feildian goals.
