As a runner, he fashioned an extremely impressive list of competitions within athletics. He entered the annual Telegram Ten 20 times and was a winner in 1973, had six marathon runs and was outstanding in a series of distance events in many different locations. Hockey NL announced the Newfoundland Labrador Under-18 Major Hockey League (formerly known as Newfoundland Labrador Major Midget Hockey League) has been provided the approval to return beginning this coming weekend. The League received permission from provincial Public Health to allow teams to proceed with inter-regional competition in three regional health authority boundaries this hockey season. Hockey NL, in partnership with the Newfoundland Labrador Under-18 Major Hockey League have worked diligently with Public Health over the last few months to build a safe return to hockey plan. Gord Dunphy named Honorary Life Member by NLSA The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association (NLSA) has named Gord Dunphy as an Honorary Life Member in recognition of his life-long support of the sport of soccer. Gord Dunphy’s illustrious soccer career extends to over 50 years. His playing days started with the St. Lawrence Laurentians. After his playing days he served as President of the St. Lawrence Laurentians and coached the Laurentians to three Provincial Challenge Cup Championships – 1992, 1998 & 1999 while also winning the National Bronze in 1999 in Chilliwack B.C.
