    The Corner Brook Royals are getting ready for the west coast senior hockey season. They have elected their executive at a meeting Tuesday night at the Civic Center.   Richard Dennis is the president and the vice-president is Tony Buckle. Mike Ledee is secretary and Don Bishop was elected treasurer.   The directors are Don Bishop, Peter Burt, Craig Kennedy and David Bruce.   The Royals, Stephenville Jets, Port aux Basques  Mariners and Deer Lake Red Wings played in the league last season and it was termed a great success.    …

  The St John’s Amateur Baseball League has set the date for it’s annual meeting. It will be held Thursday May 18th at the Elks Club on Carpasian Road starting at eight o’clock.   All teams are requested to have representatives present. The executive for the coming year will be elected. This will be the League’s 70th year of operation since it was revived in 1947.…

  The St John’s senior men’s fast pitch softball league will commence it’s 61 season Sunday May28th at Lions Park.   There will be five teams competing in the league this season. Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs, NTV Hitmen, The Bigs, The Dance Academy Dodgers and the Canada Games team ( formally Kelly’s Pub Junior Canadians. The senior league executive this year will consider of Bill Barron from the league and players representatives Stephen Strapp, Ryan Boland, Felix Squires, Jason Hill and Paul King.…
