  The East Coast Hockey semi final series between C-B-S and St. John’s is now deadlocked at two games apiece.   Garrett Murphy popped home what proved to be the winning goal at 13:10 of the third period as C-B-S edged St. John’s 1-nothing.   Matt Jenkins was in goal for the shutout.     It will be the Clarenville Caribous and the Gander Flyers to decide the Central West senior hockey championship and the right to go to the 2018 Herder Memorial Trophy final.   In dramatic fashion its was Keith Delaney with the game winning goal in overtime that clinched the best of seven semi-final for games to one for the Caribous over the Grand Falls Windsor Cataracts.   Chris Sparkes, Kevin Reid, Brandon Roach and Ryan Desrosiers scored in regulation time for the Caribous.   Nick Lidstrom, Danny Wicks, Michael Hynes and Kyle McGirk scored for the Cataracts.   The…

MUN LOSE IN SEMI FINAL AT AUS CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Saturday’s second semi-final match up had the second-seeded University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds topping the sixth-seeded Memorial Sea-Hawks by a score of 96-83. The Varsity Reds were led by AUS most valuable player, Javon Masters’ 20 points, nine assists and three steals, and AUS all-rookie team member Ibrahima Doumbouya’s  14-point and 14-rebound double-double.   Southern Shore Breakers defeated Northeast Eagles 5-2 Friday to take a three games toone lead in the East Coast Senior Hockey League semi finals series.   Steve Fowler, Peter Kavanagh, Brandon Pye, Jeremy Nicholas, and James Blair scored for the Shore.   Matt Walsh and Ben Roberts replied for te Eagles.   Next game will be played  in Mobile Sunday at seven.   Meanwhile St. John’s Caps stopped the  Conception Bay Blues 6-3.
