BREAKERS WILL PLAY CATARACTS FOR HERDER

  S U N D A Y  Southern Shore Breakers are headed to the Herder Memorial Trophy final against the Grand Falls Windsor Cataracts. Sunday night the Breakers swept Clarenville Caribous with a 4-3 overtime win against  Clarenville Caribous . Michael Chafes second goal of the game one minute in overtime gave the Breakers the 4-3 win.Daniel Cadigan and Daniel Alyward had the other goals for the Shore. Chris Sparkes has two goals for the Bous and Chad Earle had a single for the Caribous.  The Breakers will be looking for their sixth Herder and last won the Herder 15…

PLUMB STEPS DOWN AS EDGE HEAD COACH

    The St. John’s Edge play their final two games of regular season this weekend and they will have a new head coach   Head Coach Doug Plumb has stepped down as Head Coach of the team as he has pursued and accepted another opportunity in his home province of British Columbia.     Steven Marcus will now take over as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2019 season.   This weekend the Edge take on the Island Storm to conclude the 2019 regular season.…

CATARACTS OFF TO HERDER FINALS

  S A T U R D A Y  The Cataracts are off to the 2019 Herder Memorial Trophy best of seven final.   The Cataracts downed Gander Flyers 3-1 Saturday to win the best of seven series four games to two.   Three players shared in the scoring, Michael Cole, Sammy Hounsell and Danny Wicks. Jordan Escott replied for the Flyers.   The Cataracts await the winner of the East Coast final between Southern Shore Breakers and Clarenville Caribous.     S U N D A Y The St. John’s Edge lost twice to the St.John Riptide this weekend.   Sunday the Riptide downed the Edge 96-89 before 4544 fans at Mile one on a St Patrick’s Day.   Des Lee had 24 points for the Edge in that game.   Edge now 20-18 on the season.     F R I D A Y The St. John’s Edge dropped an 84-82 decision to the Saint John Riptide on Friday night at Mile One. GROWLERS GET 41ST WIN OF SEASON

    S A T U R D A Y   The Growlers get their 41st win of the season in the 12th round of the shootout as Garrett Johnston scored the winner to give the Growlers the 3-2 win over the Reading Royals.   The Reading Royals opened the scoring for the second straight night as Matt Pohlkamp beat goalie Eamon McAdam on a rebound that eventually found its way under McAdam’s leg pad and into the net.   The second period contained the rest of the regulation scoring for the game as both teams traded goals.
