CATARACTS WIN BOTH WEEKEND GAMES OF HERDER

  S U N D A Y The Cataracts received strong goal tending once again from A J Whiffen as they beat the Southern Shore Breakers 5-1 in game two of the Herder Memorial Trophy Final. Whiffen made 35 saves in the game. Michael Cole, Danny Wicks, Rodi Short, Andre Gill and Kyle McGuirk scored for the Cataracts.  Kyle Tibbo had the Breakers goal. The series will now shift back to Grand Falls Windsor and the Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium next weekend for games three four and five starting Friday. The Cats last won the Herder in 2016.    …

        The C-B-R Renegades are the 2018-19 St. John’s Junior Hockey League champions.   It took double overtime, or five periods of hockey in game seven of the series before Drew Stonehouse scored to give the Renegades their first ever Junior Hockey League title.
