Remax Super League moves to playoff rounds

ST JOHN’S, NL – The Remax Super league Curling League has wrapped up its regular season and moved into the playoffs.  The top 6 of 14 teams have advanced to quarter finals with the top two teams, Peddigrew and Symonds, earning a bye into the semi final round. All six teams earn a position in next years Super League as long as they retain 3 of 4 team members.   Teams must make the final 4 in order to crack to top prize money, but all teams will get a pay per win earnings. ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – The ReMax Super League curling is drawing to an end and the leader board is showing who will advance to the playoff round. Six teams will advance. Several teams clinched a playoff spot after a difficult season with Covid delays and many teams travelling to other competitions and provincial championships. There are still a few make-up games to be played with some happening this coming weekend, and two games by Team Young when they return from the Brier. Bronze for Team Gushue at 2022 Olympics

BEIJING – It’s a bronze medal for Team Gushue and Canada in Olympic curling.  Gushue defeated  the defending Olympic champion, John Shuster, and Team USA 8-5 in the 10th end to earn his second Olympic medal. “That was the toughest game I think I’ve ever played. Team Young wins NL Tankard

ST JOHN’S, NL – Nathan Young’s team defeated Team Greg Smith to win the Newfoundland and Labrador Tankard and become the provincial champions on Sunday afternoon at the ReMax Centre in St John’s. Final score was 8-4 after 9 ends. The two teams were very evenly matched as the only loss Smith had all week was to Young. Firsts scores came in the 3rd end with Young picking up two points with the hammer shot but Smith comes back with 2 in the 4th. 5-2 for Team Young at the end of the 6th and they traded shots after that.…

Gushue defeats Shuster’s Team USA

  In a battle of the Olympic champions, Brad Gushue of team Canada, the 2006 Olympic gold medallist, defeated the  defending Olympic John Shuster of Team USA 10-5 to end a two-game losing streak and improve his record to 3-2 at the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Gushue took two in the ninth and it was fist bumps. Gushue took a 7-1 advantage into the break with all team members throwing 93 per cent during the first half.
