Team Young wins NL Tankard

ST JOHN’S, NL – Nathan Young’s team defeated Team Greg Smith to win the Newfoundland and Labrador Tankard and become the provincial champions on Sunday afternoon at the ReMax Centre in St John’s. Final score was 8-4 after 9 ends.

The two teams were very evenly matched as the only loss Smith had all week was to Young.

Firsts scores came in the 3rd end with Young picking up two points with the hammer shot but Smith comes back with 2 in the 4th.
5-2 for Team Young at the end of the 6th and they traded shots after that.

It ended in the 9th with a score of 8-4.

Team young is the second  youngest team in this week’s competition and now going to the Tim Horton’s Briar in Lethbridge, Alberta.

The match up of these two young teams show the future of curling in Newfoundland. They will be the teams following in the steps of Brad Gushue years to come.
