CLARENVILLE ADVANCE TO SEMIS IN ESCHL PLAY

F R I D A Y   The Clarenville Caribous have advanced to the semi-finals of the East Coast Senior Hockey League as they defeated Conception Bay CeeBee Stars 5-2.  Kenny Mahoney, Chris Sparkes, Justin Pender, Chad Earle and Rod Mahoney scored for Clarenville.  Jesse Morris and Matthew Thomey replied for the CeeBee Stars.    CB Blues downed the Northeast Eagles 6-4 to grab a two games to one lead in that semi final series.   S A T U R D A Y The basketball season ended for the Sea Hawks women’s team as they lost in the semi-final game 93-77 to Acadia. Haillie Nickerson had 18 points for Memorial in this contest.     F R I D A Y  Memorial Sea Hawks women’s Basketball team is on to the semi-finals in the AUS championship round. Memorial defeated SMU 72-64. Alana Short led MUN with 23 points and Haillie Nickerson added 20. GUSHUE 2-0 AT THE BRIER

S U N D A Y The Gushue rink improved to 2-0 in Pool B as they beat Nova Scotia 5-2 Next game against Alberta who are also 2-0. S A T U R D A Y Brad Gushue and his rink  won their opening game at the 2020 Brier in Kingston Ontario. The Gushue foursome defeated Manitoba 8-4. He has two games on Sunday playing Nova Scotia and then Alberta.  Gushue and his rink won their first Brier in 2017 and followed that up with another Brier win in 2018 as Team Canada.…

POST SEASON AWARDS FOR MUN BASKETBALL TEAM MEMBERS

Memorial Sea-Hawks head coach Mark English has been chosen by his peers as the recipient of the Dr. Carolyn Savoy Memorial Award for AUS coach of the year for the first time in his career. In his fifth season at the help of the program, Coach English led the Sea-Hawks to a 13-7 regular season record and a third-place finish in the AUS standings. The Memorial’s Cole Long was named to the second all-star team. Long finished in a tie for the scoring title with Osman Omar of Cape Breton for the scoring title each averaging 20.6 points per game.…
