    The Newfoundland Growlers are going to look a lot different next season. They have already lost Brady Ferguson who is going to play in Sweden.  Now two more players are headed overseas. Marcus Power and Zach O’Brien both of St. John’s will be playing in Germany and have signed with Landshut of the German League. Power had 50 points last season good for fourth spot in team scoring and O’Brien was sixth with 46 points. …

MT. PEARL SLO PITCH SOFTBALL HAS CANCELLED SEASON

The Mount Pearl Slo Pitch Softball League won’t be operating this season .  Teams and players were notified Sunday of the league decision. Some of the reasons given are  – Bats have to be cleaned between innings.  Balls changed after each inning.  Gloves to be worn.     – Bathrooms have to be cleaned after every games     – Players cannot hang out before or after games     – Financially we have no revenue coming in, but would have to pay player fees, cleaning materials, field lights, etc.     – How many teams could we field as there will be players…

  Canada Soccer has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 edition of the Toyota National Championships scheduled to take place in three locations 7-12 October. The annual club competition for close to 2,000 male and female players, coaches, officials and volunteers was scheduled to take place in Halifax, NS (Challenge and Jubilee Trophy); Kitchener-Waterloo, ON (U-15 Cup); Moncton, NB (U-17 Cup). Because of the covid 19 various sports organization have had to adapt to guidlines set down. Here are some guidlines established by Baseball NL. There will be no pre-game plate meetings for lineup exchanges. Lineups should be exchanged with opposing teams and umpires before the game, in a safe way that respects physical distancing as much as possible.   No mound visits by catcher or coach.
