SOCCER NAMES AUGUST PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

  Newfoundland Soccer has named its senior male and female athletes of the month for August.  Tyler Kirby of Holy Cross Men’s team provided seven goals during the team’s nine game unbeaten streak.  He currently sits as the leading scorer in the Johnson Insurance Challenge Cup senior men’s division with nine goals.   A striker/winger with Holy Cross Women’s team, Holly O’Neill has had six goals for her team in August and is responsible for twenty five percent  of her team’s direct offence.  O’Neill played in all her team’s games during the month. SHAMROCK PLAYERS LEAD BOTH BASEBALL LEAGUES IN STOLEN BASES

  Shamrock players led the senior and intermediate baseball leagues in stolen bases this past season. In the Senior loop  Dylan MacKenzie led the league with 15 stolen bases. Eric McKay of Gonzaga was second with eight and Greg Barry of Shamrocks third with six. In Intermediate Steven Abbott of the Shamrocks  stole 21 bases this past season.
