HOCKEY NL NAMES NEWEST LIFETIME MEMBER

  Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador , presented the association’s newest Life Member during their Annual General Meeting last weekend.  Murray Roberts, of Botwood, was elected Life Member by the provincial hockey association.   Roberts began with the Botwood Area Minor Hockey Association in 1995 as the Initiation Director, moving to the association’s President’s position in 1996.    After serving as President for a number of years for the Central Minor Hockey Association Executive, he then became the Public Relations Officer for the provincial association’s minor council  in 1999.   In 2000, Roberts was elected Vice President of Hockey NL, serving in that role…

LAURENTIANS BEAT PARADISE IN CHALLENGE CUP PLAY

  S U N D A Y St. Lawrence finished the regular season on a winning note Sunday edging Paradise 2-1. The provincial finals will be held next weekend. AQUARENA GETS MUCH FUNDING TO REOPEN

    To help alleviate the financial shortfall as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Provincial Government and Memorial University have partnered to contribute $600,000 to The Works, to assist with re-opening of the Aquarena pool. There is a provincial government  investment of $400,000 with Memorial University contributing $200,000 towards the project.  This funding will allow The Works to safely re-open the Aquarena pool to lessons and community and recreational swims by mid-October.
