  Three teams are undefeated at the Bally Haly Super Curling League play. On Tuesday Greg Smith and his North Atlantic team improved to 2-0 as they beat Neil Jacobs, Stewart McKelvey 6-3. Bill Jenkins improved as well to 2-0 with an 11-7 win over Technip’s Ken Bavis. Matthew Smith’s Coastal Chiropractic handed Gary Perry’s GFL Environment its first loss as Smith’s team won in a close one 6-5. PASQUALE RECALLED

  The St. John’s  IceCaps have recalled goaltender Eddie Pasquale from the Brampton Beast of the ECHL.   Pasquale has posted a 4-1 win-loss record with the Beast, including a 3.88 goals against average and a .877 save percentage. The 24-year-old Toronto native has not dressed for the IceCaps so far this season. He was signed in July to a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.   An original IceCap, Pasquale played three seasons in St. John’s from 2011-12 to 2013-14 and holds many team records, including most games played by a netminder – 112.    …

GUSHUE INJURED

  Newfoundland and Labrador CurlingSkip Brad Gushue lost in the quarter final play at the Masters Curling event 5-2 to Steve Laycock of Saskatchewan. The story however was Gushue slipped on the ice and hit his head during the fourth end of play . He was taken to hospital where he received seven stitches. Gushue says he has a bit of a headache but was sorry he let his team down. He returned to finish the game.  …
