  The Atlantic Rock came up with a much needed win in Rugby action on Thursday night. They played hard and downed BC Bears 20-6 for their first win of the season. The Bears now drop to 0-3.The Rock play Prairie Wolf Pack Sunday.   The Bears played an aggressive game against the Rock but lost out as a result of errors on the doorstep of the home team’s try line.     Roebothan McKay and Marshall Gonzaga Vikings plated six runs in the in the fourth inning and added three more in the seventh as they beat Holy Cross 10-1 in St. John’s senior baseball play Thursday night. Dan Connors gets the win on a six hitter. He recorded seven strikeouts. Michael Glynn started for the Holy Cross squad and takes the loss. Ron French came in relief.   The Atlantic Rock dropped two matches over the weekend at the Under 19 men’s division Canadian Rugby Championships in Markham, Ontario.   On Saturday, the Rock took a heavy hit with a 62 to 7 loss to the Prairie Wolf Pack. Jordan Montgomery of PEI grounded the team’s single try with Nova Scotia’s Copper Coats kicking the conversion.   On Sunday the team opened the match against the BC Bears with an impressive offence and a 12 to 5 lead. HAWKS WIN IN CORNER BROOK SENIOR BASEBALL

    Hawks defeat Aces 9-6 in Corner Brook senior baseball play on Tuesday night. The Hawks scored five runs in the fifth inning and held off the Aces four runs in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Veteran Frank Humber gets the win on a six hitter and three strikeouts. Steve Hynes starts for the Aces and takes the loss. Jay Warford and Steve Kelly also pitched.
