      S U N D A Y      Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs are the champions of the 37th annual Swing into Summer St Johns men’s fast pitch softball tournament.   Two solo home runs one by Gary Bruce and the other by Blair Ezekiel carried the Bulldogs to a 2-nothing win over 3 Cheers Pub Dodgers in the championship game.   Ezekiel picked up the win in this game.   Knights pushed across the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning and rallied to edge Roebothan, McKay and Marshall Gonzaga 9-8 in senior baseball play at Smallwood field.     Veteran Greg Barry tossed a one hit shutout as OMT Shamrocks blanked 5th Ticket Feildians 10-0 in St John’s senior baseball play.   Barry walked just two batters and fanned six.   Mike Delaney started for Feildians and went six innings. Jon Walsh came on in relief.   Grant Vincent had the lone hit off Barry.   In the second game of the night Roebothan McKay and Marshall Gonzaga Vikings outlasted Holy Cross Trinity Pub 12-8.   Scott Hynes goes six innings for the win and Andrew Paul finished up. SIX NFLDER’S NAMED TO NATIONAL SOFTBALL TEAM

    Six Newfoundlanders have been named to Team Canada’s National Mens Fast Pitch softball team. They will compete at the World championships July 7th to 16 in Whitehorse. Ryan Boland of St John’s, Shane Boland of St. John’s, Sean Cleary of Harbour Main, Brad Ezekiel of Harbour Main, Steven Mullalley of Freshwater and Colin Walsh of Petty Harbour. Jason Hill of St Johns was also named to the team but is not able to attend the championships. Two Newfoundlanders are members of the coaching staff, John Hill of St Johns and Les Howey of Holyrood.…
