CAPITALS PROVINCIAL BASEBALL CHAMPS

The St. John’s Capitals are once again the provincial senior baseball champions. They defeated Corner Brook Barons 7-5 to win the best of seven final series for games to two. Dan Connors pitches the win on a two hitter and four strikeouts. Ran Morgan came in relief in the seventh . Adam Lawlor started for the Barons and takes the loss. He goes five innings and gave up nine hits.     Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer has named its athletes of the month for July.   Senior Female – Jessie Noseworthy, Holy Cross Women Jessie Noseworthy of Holy Cross was instrumental in her team’s successful July run in Breen’s Jubilee Trophy action. Noseworthy continued to show hear ability to finish in front of the net with seven goals in seven games and sits atop the leader board in women’s scoring.
