SHAMROCKS BASEBALL AWARD WINNERS 2017

    The Shamrocks Baseball Association handed out its awards for the 2017 Intermediate and Senior Baseball season.   The Team also presented the Edgar Hartery Memorial award to two individuals who were instrumental in establishing the Shamrocks Baseball teams.   The Edgar Hartery award went Mike Squires ( posthumously) and John Byrne. Squires of course passed away last year and had set up the Shamrocks Athletic Association and was the driving force behind that organization.   The Gander Flyers have completed a trade with the Clarenville Caribous in the Central West Senior Hockey League.   The Flyers have sent Gander native defenseman Mike Dyke to the Caribous for another defenseman Lucas McKay. Dyke played 12 games with the Flyers last season and scored one goal and added four assists. He had just six minutes in penalties.   McKay is a native of Deer Lake. He has played the past three season with two teams in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.  He played for St Stephen County Aces and Miramichi Timberwolves.  …
