    David Freak won the Mundy Pond 5K Road Race on Sunday. His winning time was 16 minutes and three seconds. Evan Knight placed second in 16:11 and Dan McDonald was third in 16:21.   Kate Bazeley was the first female across the finish line in 17 minutes and three seconds. LIGHTNING PLAYER SUSPENDED 10 GAMES

      The London Lightning power forward Royce White  was handed an 10-game suspension by the National Basketball League of Canada Friday for conduct detrimental to the league. League deputy commissioner Audley Stephenson handed down the suspension one day after White confronted him in St. John’s during Thursday’s Game 5 of the Lightning’s best-of-seven Central Division final series with the St. John’s Edge.…

MOUNT PEARL SETTLE FOR SILVER AT DON JOHNSON CUP

        Mount Pearl Blades settled for the silver medal at te 2018 Don Johnson Memorial Cup as they fell 4-1 to the host Kameron Junior Miners. The Miners had a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play and carried a 3-1 lead into the third period. James O’Brien had the Mount Pearl goal in the second period.   The Challenge Cup Soccer schedule for 2018 has been released.
