Hockey NL is inviting key stakeholders including players and parents to a town hall session on September 14, from 7:00-9:00 at the Albatross Hotel in Gander to discuss the state of the AAA programs in the province. The session has been initiated due to the many challenges being faced by the sport governing association over the last few seasons. The program has seen a decline in the number of teams at this category and the association is losing many players to other levels of hockey in the Canada and USA. EDGE WILL START SEASON ON THE ROAD

  The St. John’s Edge will begin their 2018-19 season on the road as they travel to London, ON in a rematch of the Central Division Finals. After the one-game stint in London, the team will meet the Windsor Express in Windsor, ON before returning home.   In their first home-stand the St. John’s Edge welcome the Moncton Magic on November 23rd and 25th   Each team will play 20 home and 20 away games this season.…

  The St. John’s Edge have acquired the protected rights to Maurice Jones from the Windsor Express for the protected rights to Grandy Glaze.   Maurice Jones who is a native of Saginaw, Michigan has spent the last two seasons with the Windsor Express of the NBL Canada. During the 2017-18 season, in 43 games, he averaged 17.6 points, 5.86 assists, while playing 38.3 minutes. Jones was the 2016-17 NBL Canada Rookie of the Year with the Windsor Express.…

HICKEY NAMED TO NATIONAL TEAM

    St. John’s native Liam Hickey received good news on Friday. Hockey has been selected to  Canada’s National Para Hockey Team for the 2018-2019 season. He made his Winter Games debut in 2018 helping Canada to the silver in Para ice hockey. Hickey played for Canada in wheelchair basketball at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. He helped Canada to the silver medal in Toronto.
