  S U N D A Y  The Edge evened their best of five NBL basketball series with Sudbury Five Sunday with a 100-92 decision at Mile One before 3523 fans  to tie the series at a game apiece. GROWLERS HAND OUT YEAR END AWARDS

  The Newfoundland Growlers handed out their awards for the past season Saturday night at Mile One.   Zack O’Brien was named the teams first Most Valuable Player for the season. O’Brien was the teams top scorer with 27 goals and 36 assists for 63 points.   Adam Pardy was named the team’s top defenseman. He He had six goals and 21 assists in the 40 games he played during the regular season.   The rookie of year award went to Brady Ferguson who played in 47 games and scored 29 goals and added 28 assists for 57 points.  …

  S A T U R D A Y   Scott Pooley opened the scoring with 8:39 to play in the opening frame, capitalizing on a bounce off the boards and roofing the puck over Charles Williams giving the Growlers a 1-0 lead.
