ST. JOHN’S, NL – Seventy-three Newfoundland athletes participated in the Canadian Olympic Committee, RBC Training Ground event in St John’s last week. Newfoundland Olympic curler Mark Nichols was on hand to cheer the athletes on as they competed in specific tests for speed, strength and endurance in a nation wide competition. RBC Training Ground is a talent identification and athlete funding program designed to find young athletes with Olympic potential, and provide them with the resources they need to achieve their podium dreams. ST. JOHN’S, NL – A record setting 52 points by Armanie Channey wasn’t enough to stop the KW Titans from defeating his Newfoundland Rogues 128-115 on Friday, May 10, 2024 in St John’s. The Titans sweep the Rogues 3-0 in the Rogues third season in St John’s and first season in the Basketball Super League. It was a heartbreaking evening of basketball for the Newfoundland Rogues. Montreal, QC – A huge weekend for competitive youth climbing in Newfoundland! Youth athletes and coaches from Cove Bouldering and Wallnuts climbing gyms in St John’s represented the province at Climbing Canada Youth Bouldering Eastern Regional Championships at Beta Bloc in Montrea, Quebec. Many firsts. It is the largest team from Newfoundland to ever compete out of province. Seven athletes qualified for the national championships, the highest number ever. Five climbers advanced to final with one of them, Owen Lang,  getting a bronze medal. 🔘 15 youth athletes (ages 14-19) – out of 193 🔘 7 athletes qualified for Nationals…
