  Team Canada men’s National Softball Team  continues its 2019 training camp June 6th to 9th in Innerkip Ontario. They are preparing for the 2019 WBSC softball play downs in the Czech Republic.     The St. John’s Baseball Association Hall of Fame will increase by four new members this week. Three players and a builder will be inducted at a ceremony at St. John’s City Hall at the E B Foran Room at 7:30 . Those to be inducted are  Derek (Dick) Collins  Player)     Pitcher Dick Collins played for over twenty years in the St. John’s Baseball League. Performing with Mt. GROWLERS ON TO ECHL KELLY CUP FINAL

  The Newfoundland Growlers are Eastern Conference Champions after defeating the Flordia Everblades 3-0 at Mile One Centre on Saturday night.   The Growlers opened the scoring late in the second period as Scott Pooley backhanded in a rebound past Everblades goalie Callum Booth.   In a series where penalty’s and physical play were common place, game five was tame. NEWHOOK NAMED MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

  Its official. The Canadian Junior Hockey League has announced that St. John’s native Alex Newhook has been named the MVP for the league for the 2018-19 season. Newhook plays for the Victoria Grizzlies this past season and has 38 goals and 64 assists for 102 points to win the scoring title in the BCHL. \ Newhook will be playing with Boston College on the NCAA Division One on a scholarship this fall.…

DAVIES WINS HARBOUR FRONT 10K

  Andrew Davies won the Harbour Front 10K road race Sunday. He finished in a time of 32 minutes and 39 seconds. David Freak finished second in 33 minutes and 45 seconds. Third place went to Mark Greene in 34 minutes 34 minutes and 14 seconds.   Jennifer Murrin was the first female across the finish line in 35 minutes and 20 seconds. Melanie Van Soeran was second in 39 minutes and 21 seconds and Nicolle Hollohan placed third in 39 minutes and 49 seconds. 282 runners finished the race.  …
