Memorial defeated SMU 84-81 to sweep their weekend series and remain tied for first place in AUS women’s basketball. Hallie Nickerson led MUN Sunday with 26 points and Alana Short contributed 20. Memorial are 12-4 on the season. Their next game is Feb 15 when they travel to UNB.
The men’s team fell to 6-10 in the season with two losses against SMU 72-66 Saturday and in overtime Sunday 84-80.

Memorial Sea Hawks women’s basketball team clinched a playoff berth Saturday night with a 72-67 win over St. Mary’s. They improved to 11-4 on the season.
Alana Short paced MUN with 20 points and Hallie Nickerson backed her up with a 14 point performance.
